Cinema in spiaggia in Lido Marini: two evenings under the stars about the environment and inclusion
At night, the sea finds a different voice. And this summer, for two evenings in Lido Marini, we will keep it company with a screen, plenty of stories and a whole community. "Cinema in spiaggia" is back: the short festival organised by OmbraSociale together with the Pro Loco Lido Marini and CineMarePuglia, on Monday 21 July and Tuesday 25 August 2026 at La Friscura, in Lido Marini di Ugento.

At night, the sea finds a different voice. And this summer, for two evenings in Lido Marini, we will keep it company with a screen, plenty of stories and a whole community. “Cinema in spiaggia” (beach cinema) is back: the short festival organised by OmbraSociale together with the Pro Loco Lido Marini and CineMarePuglia, on Monday 21 July and Tuesday 25 August 2026 at La Friscura, in Lido Marini di Ugento.
Cinema about the sea, diversity and the future
We did not choose the films at random.
On 21 July we will show “Luca”, the animated film directed by Enrico Casarosa and set on the Ligurian Riviera: the story of two young sea monsters who can take on human form, a bright tale about friendship and accepting difference. For us at OmbraSociale this is not just a theme: it is the reason we exist.
On 25 August it will be the turn of “WALL•E”, a science-fiction fairy tale and environmental manifesto about the relationship between people, technology and the environment. A poetic reminder of how fragile — and how precious — the planet we live on is, starting with the coasts we walk along every day.
Before the films: words that matter
Each screening will be preceded by talks on the issues we care about: fair and sustainable management of the environment, protecting and monitoring the Italian coast, inclusion, and continuity of kidney care during the summer season — because the right to the sea also depends on the right to health, wherever you are on holiday.
Speakers will include the Mayor of Ugento Salvatore Chiga, the Vice-President of the Pro Loco Lido Marini Fabio Coppolino, Angelo Giulio Guerrieri, founding partner of OmbraSociale, Lucia Fanini of the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences and Technologies at the University of Salento, the geologist Pasquale Russo and Paolo Ria, senior physician in the Nephrology and Dialysis Unit at Vito Fazzi Hospital in Lecce.
“Il mare è di tutti”: the second edition awards
The evening of 25 August will include a special moment: the award ceremony for the winners of the second edition of the free photo contest “Il mare è di tutti” (“The sea belongs to everyone”), dedicated to the central theme of the OmbraSociale project. Each participant can send up to five photos; the shortlisted photos will be shown on the big screen, in front of the sea that inspired them.
The winners will receive a free two-night stay for up to four people at a hotel or holiday accommodation in the city of Lecce, to be used by November 2026.
