We offer accessible shaded spaces to people with disabilities, older people and families in financial hardship, creating a new model of welcome and solidarity that promotes social inclusion and adds value to the local area.
What we do
Inclusive social spaces
With municipalities, Pro Loco associations and local organisations, we create equipped spaces entirely dedicated to welcoming people: free, assisted shaded spots, accessible paths, sunbeds at an easy-access height and clear signage.
Our first space: La Friscura in Lido MariniAccessible beach resorts
We help operators make their beach more accessible: entrances and paths, spots and services, agreements with local associations. Their social contribution is documented in a verifiable way, which also helps when beach concessions come up for renewal.

In Lido Marini, the Pro Loco and OmbraSociale are turning a public green area into an Inclusive Social Space: the whole umbrella area is dedicated to welcoming people with disabilities, older people and families in financial hardship.

A network of solidarity
The social spaces are not open for public booking: access goes through qualified organisations, to ensure fairness, transparency and places allocated according to real need.
They refer and book places for people supported by Social Services, and receive a transparent report at the end of the season.
Non-profit organisations, associations and health and social care facilities accompany people and organise days at the seaside.
They offer social spots and make their spaces more accessible, with a documented contribution.

At night, the sea finds a different voice. And this summer, for two evenings in Lido Marini, we will keep it company with a screen, plenty of stories and a whole community. "Cinema in spiaggia" is back: the short festival organised by OmbraSociale together with the Pro Loco Lido Marini and CineMarePuglia, on Monday 21 July and Tuesday 25 August 2026 at La Friscura, in Lido Marini di Ugento.
The short Cinema in spiaggia (beach cinema) festival has come to an end, drawing large audiences: two evenings of film (21 and 22 August 2025) on the free beach next to Bar Ponticello in Rivabella (Gallipoli), organised by Ombra Sociale.
We are proud to announce that Ombra Sociale has been selected to take part in the 2025 Venice Biennale, one of the most prestigious international events dedicated to contemporary art, architecture and culture.
